Crimson Triplet2024

Three intense red forms appear around a pale, cracked body. They seem to bloom from it, yet their colour is so vivid that they also appear to belong to another world. The eye moves between their dense, almost soft-looking surfaces and the weathered hollow at the centre.

I am interested in the moment when growth becomes difficult to name. The red forms could suggest flowers, coral, or an unfamiliar life attaching itself to an older landscape. They make the sculpture feel newly alive without restoring it to an imagined original state. Its cracks remain; change continues through them.

Crimson Triplet imagines a nature that has been altered and still goes on producing forms. Its beauty carries some unease because we cannot tell what this new growth will ask of the body that holds it.
